Frequently Asked Questions — Becoming a SettlyGo Helper

Everything you need to know before you apply.

How much can I earn per month?

At €17.50/hour, working 4 hours per week gives you an estimated €280/month. Working 8 hours per week gives approximately €560/month, and 16 hours gives approximately €1,120/month. These are estimates based on completed bookings at the fixed hourly rate.

Do I need a special qualification?

No degree or professional certification is required. You need B2-level German plus at least one other language, a current residence in Germany, and the legal right to earn income. Personal experience navigating German bureaucracy is a strong advantage.

What services do helpers provide?

Helpers support newcomers with: Bürgeramt and Bezirksamt visits, Anmeldung (address registration), bank account setup, residence permit assistance, apartment viewings, internet and utilities setup, phone call assistance, and letter translation.

How do I get paid?

You receive a weekly SEPA bank transfer every Monday for the previous week's completed bookings. No cash handling required.

Can I set my own schedule?

Yes. You control your availability completely. You set the times you are available and you decide which requests to accept or decline. There is no minimum booking requirement.

Is SettlyGo a legitimate platform?

Yes. SettlyGo is a registered marketplace connecting independent helpers with newcomers in Germany. You are not an employee — you are an independent helper using the platform. All transactions are processed securely and payouts are guaranteed for completed bookings.

What happens if a customer cancels?

Cancellation policies depend on timing. If a customer cancels with sufficient notice, you may receive a partial fee. Full details are in the helper terms you agree to when registering.

Can I work in multiple cities?

Yes. You can register to work in any city where SettlyGo operates. Simply indicate your availability in each city in your profile.

How long does verification take?

Most helpers are approved within 1–2 business days of submitting their profile. You will receive an email confirmation once your profile is reviewed.

What languages do I need to speak?

B2-level German is required for all helpers — this is the language you will use at Bürgeramt, banks, and official appointments. You also need at least one other language to serve customers (English, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, French, Hindi, or others). Speaking more languages increases the number of requests you receive.

Do I need to own a car or have a driving licence?

No. All services are provided in-person at offices and apartments, or remotely by phone. Public transport is sufficient.

What if I am a student?

Students are welcome. You need the legal right to earn income in Germany. Many student visas allow part-time work — check your specific visa conditions. The flexible schedule works well alongside studies.

Is there a minimum number of bookings I must accept?

No. There is no minimum. You accept requests at your own discretion and availability.

What happens after a booking is completed?

After you complete a booking, the customer confirms completion. Your earnings are added to your next weekly payout automatically.

Can I choose which services I offer?

Yes. During profile setup you select which service types you want to offer. You can update this at any time from your helper dashboard.

What is the verification process?

Verification includes an identity check (ID or passport), a short profile questionnaire about your experience and language skills, and a response-time test to ensure you can engage with requests promptly.

Are there any costs to join?

No. Registering as a helper on SettlyGo is free. The platform earns its fee from the customer side of each booking.

What cities does SettlyGo currently operate in?

SettlyGo is currently active in Berlin and expanding to Hamburg, Munich, and Frankfurt. If you are based in another city, you are still welcome to register — we will notify you as your city goes live.

Do I need liability insurance?

SettlyGo does not require you to hold personal liability insurance, though it is advisable for any independent service work. Full details are in the helper terms.

How do I contact SettlyGo if I have a problem?

Registered helpers can contact support directly from their helper dashboard. Before registering, you can reach us at hello@settlygo.app.
